We are delighted to invite you to a special edition of the DCVA & RegMed XB Valorization Community event: “Venturing into New Waters – The transition from researcher to entrepreneur”. This event celebrates five years of collaboration between DCVA and RegMed XB, during which we have joined forces to stimulate valorization and create real-world impact for patients.

Event Speakers

Marc van Moorsel

Director of Operations @ TargED Biopharmaceuticals
Marc van Moorsel holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU), focusing on the development of nanobody-targeting biopharmaceuticals in the field of cardiovascular diseases. In 2020, he co-founded TargED Biopharmaceuticals as spin-off from UMCU.
At TargED, Marc functions as Director of Operations, for which he holds responsibility for daily operations and streamlining processes, with special focus on legal, intellectual property, (non)-dilutive funding and human resources. In his spare time, Marc is passionate about a variety of sports, including football, cycling, running, skiing and snowboarding.

Pieter Reitsma

Professor Experimental Molecular Medicine and founder of VarmX

Emeritus professor Pieter Reitsma is the founder of VarmX. He is a leading expert in blood coagulation and previous head of the department of Thrombosis and Hemostasis at the LUMC in Leiden. Pieter Reitsma has always worked at the interface of fundamental science and clinical applications. He is among the very few to have brought a drug and a diagnostic test to the clinic. In the early stage of his career he did the preclinical work which was needed to bring the bisphosphonate APD to the clinic to treat patients with destructive bone disease. In 1985 he turned to the field of Hemostasis and Thrombosis where he made seminal contributions that made him world leader in the genetics and biochemistry of coagulation proteins. The test for factor V Leiden that he co-discovered is considered to be the most commonly performed genetic test in the world.
